a comprehesive guide to the perfect family photos

Welcome

I’m Hannah, owner and photographer at Pacific Peak Photography and I believe that every family has a unique story worth telling. My mission is to pause those exact moments in time—moments that, when woven together, bring your story back to life. I specialize in creating a timeless combination of cinematic and documentary-style photography that captures the essence of your loved ones in a genuine and heartfelt way. As you embark on this photographic journey with me, you can expect a relaxed and enjoyable experience. I understand that family sessions can sometimes feel daunting, but me goal is to make you feel at ease, allowing your natural interactions to shine through. Whether it’s a candid laugh, a loving glance, or a quiet moment shared, I’m here to document it all. Thank you for choosing me to capture your family’s precious memories. I am excited to work with you and create beautiful images that you will cherish for years to come!

What to Expect

During the session, you can expect a laid-back environment where you won’t have to worry about what to do, where to stand, or how to pose. I will provide gentle prompts to elicit genuine expressions and flattering poses, guiding you through the process while allowing your family's natural interactions to take center stage.

Time

My preferred time to photograph is close to either sunrise or sunset.

Having the sun close to the horizon creates beautiful lighting that flatters everyone.

Location

If you are not set on where you want to get your photos taken, I will have plenty of suggestions. From ocean to high dessert and just about everything in between, you’ll have plenty of options!

Weather

Cloudy days are unavoidable here in the Willamette Valley but that wont ruin your session. Overcast skies provide flattering light all through out the day, but if the weather is nasty, I’m happy to reschedule!

Tips

1.Preparation

Plan to bring along any necessary items, such as snacks, water, or favorite toys for younger children, to keep everyone comfortable and engaged. It's also helpful to arrive at the location a bit early, allowing time for everyone to acclimate and relax before the session begins.

2.Hair & Makeup

Comfort is key, but don’t be afraid to add a little extra drama. Heavier makeup photographs well, so feel free to add a little extra color and let your hair down!

3.Kids smart choices

While I’m not above bribery to get some good photos, it’s best to avoid candy that will stain your child’s mouth; save those for after. Packing some extra tissues or baby wipes is also a good idea.

4.What to avoid

Avoid wearing clothing and shoes that are uncomfortable or restrictive. It's important to feel good and have the freedom to move easily.
